    Experience an exciting self-drive vacation with an adventure activity included in each destination. Imagine a mountain resort adventure, a scenic city stay and a tranquil island retreat all in one vacation. Spend your first 3-nights at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort, followed by a 2-night Vancouver stay and finally 2-nights in a spacious suite on Salt Spring Island. For added flexibility and those with an adventurous spirit, a full-size rental vehicle has been included in the package.

    Upon arrival at Vancouver International Airport, pick up your rental car and drive 3-hours north along the scenic Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler Resort.

    The European styled Whistler Village is nestled at the base of the world renowned Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. You will revel in the charm of Whistler's enchanting pedestrian only village, alive with festive entertainment, intriguing shops, cozy bistros and gourmet restaurants. Choose from a bounty of recreational activities with unlimited options.

    For the next two nights you will stay at the Four Seasons Resort. With 242 guest rooms, suites and townhouses, the Resort evokes the spirit of a luxurious mountain residence, with cozy wood interiors, and stone fireplaces and terraces or balconies in every room. Your beautifully appointed Deluxe Room is generously proportioned and offers a cosy wood interior, gas fireplace and oversized slate tile bathroom.

    Today you will enjoy a thrilling eco-adventure activity, and fun for the whole family! Experience an incredible 2.5-hour journey as you ride on a series of 5 zipline cables with a combined length of over 800 metres - 1/2 a mile! Ziplines are joined together by suspension bridges, aerial stairways and ground-based trail. Explore the hidden beauty of Fitzsimmons Creek and the picturesque forest valley between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. Ziptrek Guides teach you about local ecology and Whistler’s coastal temperate rainforest.

    Participants must wear closed toed footwear. Rainwear, gloves and winter boots are available upon request. Transportation to and from Whistler Resort is included.

    Spend the remainder of your day at leisure enjoying the numerous activities available from your hotel. You may decide to indulge in a pampering treatment at the Spa at the Four Seasons Resort.     You have a full day to explore Whistler and to relax!

    The natural setting of Whistler offers a host of activities. According to your interests and the weather, take a guided interpretive walk through Whistler area forests, or rent mountain bikes and follow the Valley Trail, which is a paved walking and bike trail taking you through the Whistler area past golf courses and lakes. You can also canoe, go on a Hummer or an ATV tour, or go on a floatplane or helicopter flight-seeing excursion.

    Golf to your heart’s content. With four championship courses, Whistler is one of the most spectacular Golf destinations in the world. Try the Chateau Whistler Golf Course or the Nicklaus North golf course, rated “9th Best Golf Course” in the country. The Whistler Golf Club has been recently renovated and was most recently named in the “Top 100” courses in Canada by Score Magazine. A little further north of Whistler is the Big Sky Golf and Country Club in Pemberton.

    Today you will depart Whistler for a scenic 3-hour drive south to Vancouver. You may decide to make some scenic stops en route, including spectacular Shannon Falls. As you enter Vancouver from the North Shore, it’s a perfect opportunity to visit a couple of popular attractions including the Capilano Suspension Bridge or Grouse Mountain. Cross over the Lion’s Gate Bridge into downtown Vancouver and make your way to your downtown hotel.

    Tonight you will stay at the boutique Wedgewood Hotel. Located on fashionable Robson Square, in the heart of downtown Vancouver, amidst the gardens and waterfalls, an abundance of flowers, fine antique pieces and original works of art characterize the 83 luxurious rooms, suites and public areas of the hotel. The hotel features a Spa and Bacchus, an award winning restaurant and bar, offering a truly epicurean experience and Vancouver's most exciting and well-attended cocktail hour.

    Vancouver is always alive with a wide array of arts and entertainment. From live theatre and performing arts to unique exhibits and museums, there is something for every arts enthusiast.     Begin your day by exploring downtown Vancouver with your private guide. Unique highlights include, Stanley Park: 1,000 acres of forest and gardens surrounded by beaches. Wander among totem poles, stop at Prospect Point, and visit the rose gardens.

    Discover the Orient and explore Chinatown’s intriguing sights and fragrances. Wander along the busy streets and visit stores that sell unusual fruits, vegetables and seafood.     Continue to Vancouver’s North Shore and indulge your desire for knowledge and beauty as you observe the life cycle of the Pacific Salmon at the renowned Capilano Fish Hatchery. A scenic drive overlooking the Pacific Ocean leads you to Lighthouse Park for a refreshing walk through a breathtaking Coastal Virgin Rainforest.     Today you will depart Vancouver for your drive to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal, 45 minutes south of Vancouver. The ferry liaison is operated by BC Ferries and the ferry to Long Harbour on Salt Spring Island operates a number of times daily. The direct ferry includes a scenic 90-minute voyage, while other sailings may include stops at other Gulf Islands en route and extend the voyage, lasting up to 3-hours. Upon arrival on Salt Spring Island, take a short drive to Hastings House.

    You will spend the next two nights at Hastings House, located in a uniquely pastoral setting. Its casual elegance, fine cuisine and ideal location in the beautiful Gulf Islands make Hastings House one of the most romantic destinations in British Columbia.

    The twenty-five acre seaside estate features five tastefully restored cottages and two newly constructed buildings amid gardens and fruit trees. Your Meadow Suite is a newly remodeled garden level two room-suite offering a queen bed sitting room with fireplace and TV armoire. French door open to a verdant meadow perfect for watching eagles and other birds, or perhaps some lambs at play. A separate study with desk and daybed also accesses the large bath with walk-in shower and generous soaking tub.

    For dinner we recommend dining at the Inn. Hastings House’s excellent cuisine can be credited to European trained Executive Chef Marcel Kauer and to his selection of the freshest seafood, produce and game available. Cocktails are served in the living room before dinner, and on the patio in fine weather. Enjoy intimate fireside dining, casual dining in the Verandah next to the living room, or for special occasions, the Manor dining room. The wine list features notable British Columbia wines, as well as fine selections from around the world.

    This morning you will awake to find a hamper basket with steaming coffee or tea and freshly baked muffins delivered to your door. Then enjoy a full English breakfast in the Dining Room.

    Following breakfast, you will take a short stroll into the town of Ganges, to the harbour, where you will explore the beauty of the island from the water. Salt Spring Island is a paddler's paradise. Mild climate, sheltered waters and easy access make this one of the most desirable paddling and sailing destinations in Canada. Enjoy a 3-hour private kayaking tour. After meeting with your private guide and receiving some instruction, you will paddle with your guide along the chain of islands in Ganges Harbour to the beautiful shell covered Chocolate Beach on Third Sister Island. Here you will take a short hike on to a beautiful lookout. Enjoy the fascination of the intertidal marine life and the beautiful sandstone rock formation and interesting bird life. Kayakers often view marine life such as seals, sea lions, porpoise, and otters or view an abundance of unique sea birds like great blue herons, eagles, oyster catchers, swans, harlequin ducks, and more, right from your kayak. Included in your half day excursion is a picnic lunch.

    The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure, you may decide to indulge in a spa treatment or two before dinner. Alternatively, you may wish to explore Salt Spring Island with your rental car. It takes approximately two hours to drive the perimeter of this small island, and you can take a self-guided art gallery tour to visit the 36 artists’ galleries throughout the island and in Ganges, many in their own quaint homes!

    This morning you will awake to find a hamper basket with steaming coffee or tea and freshly baked muffins delivered to your door. Then enjoy a full English breakfast in the Dining Room.

    Your Western Canada vacation has come to an end. Today you will depart Salt Spring Island for your ferry sailing to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal, before continuing on to the Vancouver Airport. The ferry liaison is operated by BC Ferries and the ferry from Long Harbour to Tsawwassen operates a number of times daily. The direct ferry includes a scenic 90-minute voyage, while other sailings may include stops at other Gulf Islands en route and extend the voyage, lasting up to 3-hours. From the Tsawwassen ferry terminal it is about a 30-minute drive to Vancouver International Airport, where you will return your rental vehicle. Have a safe trip home!
